Privacy Policy — Brainiac: Daily Brain Quiz

Brainiac ("the App", "we", "us") is a quiz and learning app that helps users prepare for competitive exams, using syllabus-based content as study material. This policy explains what information the App handles and how it is used. We designed the App to collect as little personal information as possible.

Information We Collect

Account credentials. If you create an account, we use Firebase Authentication to store your sign-in credentials (such as email address) so you can log in and keep your progress across devices.
Quiz activity. We store your quiz attempts, scores, and progress in Firestore (a Google Cloud database) so this information can be shown back to you inside the App — for example, your history, streaks, or performance by category.
Profile and settings. We store your display name (if provided), your email address, and your notification preference in your user profile document in Firestore.
Usage analytics. We use Google's Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is used, for example when a quiz is started or completed, the quiz category, score, and sign-in events. Firebase Analytics also automatically collects basic device and app information (such as app version, operating system, and an app instance identifier) and an approximate location (country or region) derived from your IP address. This data is used in aggregate to improve the App.
Push notifications. If you turn on notifications, the App subscribes your device to a Firebase Cloud Messaging topic so we can notify you about new quizzes. You can turn this off at any time in your Profile.

We do not collect precise location data, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers, and we do not collect any other personal information beyond what's listed above.

What We Don't Do

We do not show third-party advertisements in the App.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
We do not use your data for advertising or build advertising profiles. The only third-party SDKs used are Google Firebase services (Authentication, Firestore, Analytics, and Cloud Messaging).
We do not access your contacts, camera, microphone, or location.

How Your Information Is Used

Your account credentials and quiz data are used to operate the App's core features: authenticating you and showing you your own quiz history and performance. Analytics data is used in aggregate to understand how the App is used and to fix problems and improve it. Your notification preference is used only to send you notifications about new quizzes if you opt in. Your data is not used for any other purpose.

Data Storage & Security

All data is stored using Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Analytics, and Firebase Cloud Messaging), which applies industry-standard security practices including encryption in transit and at rest. Access to the underlying Firebase project is restricted to the App's developer.

Data Retention & Deletion

Your account credentials are retained as long as your account exists. Quiz activity is retained only for your 10 most recent quiz attempts — older quiz history is automatically removed as new attempts are recorded. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the email below; we will delete it within a reasonable timeframe. Analytics data is retained according to the retention period configured in Firebase (up to 14 months).

Children's Privacy

Brainiac is intended for general audiences preparing for competitive examinations and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the details below and we will take appropriate action.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
